The story is set present day but based on a 1985 novel and is about a new world order that sees women out of commercial or other work and working as handmaids and home-makers instead. It includes a cast that can tell the story so immaculately, you'd almost believe that this really could happen.
Besides some of the gory bits, this story astounds with the way that its set to imagine a world where women are back to doing "what they're supposed to." It's almost funny at times with some of the ways that women have to overcome their new adversities like not bing allowed to stay in their own homes.
Alcohol, friendship and memories are what keep the main character (a women) out of trouble and in-line until she finds her way back to her normal life. Her disbelief to what the world is is what captures the audience as we all wonder how we'd survive such a backwards event where women have to leave their families and work as sexual slaves for men they don't knw or ought to know.
The series is on its 3rd season and has won up to 19 big-time awards since its release in 2017, wow! It has a few gripping episodes every season and is an enjoyable series to watch -though at times it may hit home a little too hard!
